In my humble opinion, the best newsletters are:

• The ones customers self-subscribe themselves to because they want the newsletter, vs. newsletters sent unsolicited
• The ones sophisticated enough to get through spam filters and end up in the "Focused" tab and not the "Other" tab in Outlook -- the "Other" tab gets ignored
• are no more frequent than monthly
